Memes and genes?


 
A meme is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.
Personality traits.
My son tells me this word has been engulfed and takes on a new meaning.

 A gene 'is a sequence of DNA or RNA that codes for a molecule that has a function. 
Inheriting prenotypic traits to our offspring.
My son tells me science can manipulate genes, giving them new meaning.

 Our identity is in continual flux, as is science and the creative arts equally.

 Is there really one truth?

    My wide wrote her thesis in philosophy of law with the title, "The Truth and the Brazilian Criminal Process". . . . She didn't find the truth . . . good luck.
    P.S. Apparently according to her the truth changes constantly, so we can't find it!

Reflexive practise

Rarely have I worked for anyone else and I have always learned a great deal from my learners.  At times I wonder who is educating who! With your own school you are reliant on the children coming back each week.  You have to work hard all the time to sustain their interest and continually adapt to each requirement.   You can’t treat everyone the same and you have to work with your learners and provide them with stimuli on their terms.  The sophistication of our next generation insists on controlling their own interests and are self-determining. This results in continual self-reflection and reflexive thought as teachers. And so while living in a bubble can be detrimental, innovation comes free from constraints and is possible only when in autonomous environments. Any thoughts?

Question Are we products of how we are treated? Has our past, present and future been determined by that of others? If so, to what extent? AND When can we feel uninhibited, free and completely ourselves? What can allow us this? Is it our right? Would love to hear your answers or thoughts.  Thanks.
